HOME / Goyard

Luxury travel and traditional luggage are what Goyard is famed for. The firm dates back to the XIXth century, when age-old traditions of leather craftsmanship found new outlets in the burgeoning market to supply travelers by steamship and railway.

Maison Goyard in rue Saint Honoré was successor to Maison Morel, a trunk maker to whom François Goyard was apprenticed in 1845. Morel was one of the firms most sought after by the titled and Royal families of Europe. It had acquired the prestigious Maison Martin, box-maker to her Royal Highness, the Duchesse de Berry. François Goyard, to whom Monsieur Morel bequeathed his business, took over an establishment on premises that ceaselessly produced the best in traditional luggage, packing cases and travel trunks. The Maison Goyard is one of the very few traditional establishments to have never moved from its place of origin, and has made a continuous contribution to the history of luxury handicrafts for which the quartier Saint Honoré is world-famed. It was here that Robert Goyard founded the Comité Vendôme in 1936.
